Iberostar's All-Inclusive Mexico Resorts

Rooms at Iberostar Paraíso del Mar resort

All rooms at Iberostar Paraíso del Mar resort have a private terrace or balcony

While it’s been a difficult summer season all over Mexico, Travel Agent has good news to report from the Iberostar family of resorts. Two of the company’s Riviera Maya properties that were shut down in late August to give the staff a break and make some minor annual refurbishments are now slated to reopen for business.

The Iberostar Paraíso del Maris less than 30 minutes’ drive from Cancun International Airport and about 20 minutes’ drive from Playa del Carmen. It has 388 rooms, including 16 Junior Suites and—the property’s best—two Presidential Suites. All rooms have a private terrace or balcony.

The resort has about a quarter mile of white sand beach, a lake pool that has islands covered with palm trees, waterfalls and Jacuzzis and a separate children’s pool. The hotel organizes a variety of activities during the day (aerobics, dance lessons, water polo, beach volleyball, basketball, Spanish lessons, etc.). There is a multi-purpose court and two floodlit tennis courts (equipment included at no additional charge).

The PADI Dive Center on the hotel’s beach provides catamarans, kayaks, snorkeling gear and diving lessons in the pool free of charge (for a limited time, based on availability). Optional dives and a certification course are available at additional cost.

A different show graces the stage at the resort’s theater with live music every night. Guests also have access to the Galaxy nightclub at the Iberostar Playa Paraíso Shopping Center. In addition, they can play golf at the Iberostar Playa Paraíso Golf Club, an 18-hole course, par 72, designed by renowned P.B. Dye (at a supplementary fee).

In addition to the buffet restaurant, El Mercado, six specialty restaurants (limited number of reservations based on stay) are also available to guests: La Dorada, which serves Mediterranean cuisine; Hashiru, which serves Japanese; La Hacienda, Mexican; El Rodizio, Brazilian; El Puerto, a steakhouse; and El Colonial, which serves an array of gourmet cuisines.

Apart from its 10 bars (including sports bar Star Rock Café and a swim-up bar), the Paraíso del Mar also has a game room for guests. Access to the fitness center and the Iberostar Playa Paraíso Shopping Center—where the additional restaurants are located—is free.

The luxury all-inclusive Iberostar Paraíso Beach shares the beach with Paraíso del Mar and also has a lake pool, including center islands covered with palm trees, waterfalls and Jacuzzis and a separate children’s pool.

Perhaps the only significant difference from the Iberostar Paraíso del Mar is the number of rooms—it has 424, including 62 Junior Suites and two Presidential Suites. Again, all rooms have a private terrace or balcony. The two properties share all restaurants, bars, the golf course, etc.

Although couples will have an incredible time here, we recommend agents book these properties for families. For both Paraíso properties, agents should contact Paulina Chahin in the sales department at [email protected].

Other Iberostar Properties

Here’s a brief wrap-up of the other Iberostar properties in Mexico—which continue to be among the company’s biggest sells—to get you started when selling all-inclusives to travelers to the country.

Iberostar Cozumel: This property lies on the southwestern coast of Cozumel Island, about 30 minutes’ drive from the international airport, and close to the famous Palancar Reef. Apart from the 170 meters of white sand beach, it has a pool area—enclosed by an abundance of vegetation—divided into three sections: the main area, activities area and children’s area. The hotel has its own pier, so snorkeling or diving excursions leave directly from here (at an additional charge, and reservations must be made at the Dive Center).

There are 306 rooms in all, each with either two double beds or one king-size bed. They have been built into bungalow-style one- or two-story buildings, surrounded by tropical gardens. Each building has four or eight rooms with garden and/or pool views.

Iberostar Grand Paraíso: This adults-only property is ideal for couples. It has 310 suites, 44 of which have two double beds; 120 have oceanfront views and a king-size bed; 40 have partial ocean views; and there are two Presidential Suites. The best rooms for couples, however, are any of the 10 Honeymoon Villas.

Iberostar Paraíso Lindo: Built in Mexican-Pacific style, this hotel has 446 rooms. Among them are 14 Honeymoon Suites and two Presidential Suites. All rooms have a private balcony and either a king-size bed or two double beds. Every building resembles an authentic Mexican villa, with a courtyard, and concierge service is provided during the day. The hotel has five pools, including a lazy river and a unique wave pool.

Iberostar Paraíso Maya: With details inspired by Mayan culture, this hotel forms a complex with the neighboring Paraíso Lindo. Among its 432 suites, two are Presidential Suites, each with either two double beds or one king-size bed.

Iberostar Quetzal: Lying on the beach of Playacar, in Mexico’s Riviera Maya, this resort is an hour’s drive from the Cancun International Airport and just minutes from Playa del Carmen. It has 350 rooms in three-story buildings surrounded by jungle and tropical gardens. Among them, the only ones with a front ocean view are the 24 Junior Suites and the two Presidential Suites; obviously, we recommend booking these first. However, each Standard Room has a balcony with a garden or pool view and each has either two double beds or one king-size bed.

Iberostar Tucan: The last of Iberostar’s all-inclusive properties in Mexico also has 350 rooms, laid out in a style similar to the Iberostar Quetzal. Again, among them, the only ones with a front ocean view are the 24 Junior Suites and the two Presidential Suites. However, the beach here is only about a third the size of Quetzal’s.
