Southern Beauty Belle Lands in Mexico

Sometimes it's tough to be a pageant girl, we know. You've seen Miss Congeniality, right? So much perkiness! So many sequins! But other times, it seems like a pretty sweet gig.

Doing her pageant-winning duty, Miss Texas USA Brooke Daniels arrived in Cancun, Mexico today in order to assist in the Miss Spain contest, which has been moved south this year because of the economic strain of production at home. Thus far, Daniels' review of the sunny destination has been glowing...ish. "Everyone has been very nice," she said. She only just arrived, after all.

Mexico's tourism industry leaders have spent the past few months valiantly trying to recover from a run of bad luck. The worldwide spread of the H1N1 virus and the highly publicized gang and drug violence that plagues the country have both done a number on Mexican tourism, a major segment of that country's economy. Hopefully a little stateside polished glamour will only help bring Mexican tourism back to full strength.

Daniels, who aspires to represent the U.S. States in the next Miss Universe pageant, said she was looking forward to enjoying Cancun's beaches. The pageant winner and her two traveling sisters also said they'd be recommending the party-friendly island as a getaway spot to friends and family.
