Two European Travel Companies Cancel Trips to Mexico

Reuters is reporting that Europe's two biggest travel companies, TUI Travel and Thomas Cook, canceled all vacations leaving from Great Britain to the Mexican beach resort of Cancun Tuesday in response to the swine flu scare. The two groups acted on advice given by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.

Thomas Cook has canceled all trips departing over the next seven days. It said customers who have a Cancun holiday booked for travel in May will be able to amend their holiday free of charge and select a different destination. Meanwhile, TUI Travel said its Thomson and First Choice units had taken the decision to repatriate customers and cancel today's outbound flights to Cancun. TUI Travel said customers due to depart Tuesday would have the option to make a free amendment to their holiday and select a different destination.
