Queen Elizabeth Sails Again

Cunard-Queen-Mary

Queen Elizabeth sails again. The original Queen Elizabeth was scrapped in 1974; the new Cunard version will set sail in October 2010 and bookings for the new ocean liner will go on sale April 2.

Queen Elizabeth will feature many of the same elements as sister ships Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria, but also add some modern flair. The ship's public spaces will include:

Queens Room - a new take on the traditional Cunard ballroom, with artwork depicting views from royal palaces, and photography of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal family, along with a 1000-square-foot dance floor.

Garden Lounge - a vaulted glass ceiling conservatory inspired by the glass houses of Kew Gardens.

Games Deck - the Games Deck will offer paddle tennis, croquet and traditional British bowls.

Dining venues will include:

Queens Grill and Princess Grill - The ship will also feature the line's Grills accommodation and dining, with an al fresco dining option on a private deck terrace.

Britannia Restaurant - this two-tiered dining room features a sweeping staircase.

Queen Elizabeth's maiden 2010 season will consist of six voyages calling in 18 countries. The maiden voyage from Southampton will depart October 12, 2010, en route to the Atlantic Isles.
