Allianz Founders to Join New Sister Company

Mike Nelson

Allianz Global Assistance USA founders Jon Ansell, chairman, and Beth Godlin, CEO, are leaving the company to join Fusion Company, a new technology venture that launches July 1, 2012. Mike Nelson, most recently president of partner services at Orbitz Worldwide, will take over as Allianz CEO.

Fusion Company is a technology company that was initially developed within Allianz Global Assistance USA as a way to use real-time analytics and marketing to personalize travel insurance product offers. Ansell will become chairman of Fusion Company, while AGA Interactive Company’s current president, Bob Dufour, will be president. Godlin will become chief partner services officer.

Ansell and Godlin founded the predecessor to Allianz Global Assistance in the mid-1980s, and they have led the company continuously since then.

Mike Nelson, who will take over as CEO at Allianz Global Assistance, spent over 11 years at Orbitz and was part of the management team that launched the business. Prior to serving as president of partner services he was the Global Chief Operating Officer. At Allianz, Nelson will also oversee the company’s Americas Zone (U.S., Canada, Mexico and Brazil), and will become a member of the company’s global executive committee.
