Mobil Travel Guide Announces 2007 Awards

Las Vegas finally got its due as The Tower Suites at Wynn Las Vegas gained a five-star rating, the first time in the Mobil Travel Guide's history it has bestowed the honor on a Las Vegas hotel. This recognition was just one of many at Thursday's Mobil Travel Guide's awards announcements at the Core Club in New York City. Only 53 hotels and restaurants in the U.S. and Canada reached Mobil's five-star level. The St. Regis Resort, Monarch Beach in California; the Mandarin Oriental, New York; the St. Regis, San Francisco; and The Hermitage Hotel in Nashville joined The Tower Suites at Wynn Las Vegas as first timers on the five-star list. "Mobil Travel Guide's rating process minimizes subjectivity, enabling us to provide expert, objective guidance that travelers can trust," says Shane O'Flaherty, vice president of quality assurance for Mobil Travel Guide. Ratings are based on more than 750 criteria for hotels and more than 250 for restaurants, which begins with a facility inspection that must exceed Mobil's service standards to achieve either a four-star or five-star designation.
