Starwood Hotels & Resorts has promoted Paul Sacco to senior vice president of North America development, where he will spearhead all development efforts for each Starwood brand in the U.S., Canada, Hawaii and Caribbean. He will report to Simon Turner, president of global development.
While Starwood has focused much of its development globally, Turner said Starwood is positioned for strong growth in North America. "Our goal is to have 1,500 hotels by 2013 and I am confident Paul and his team will help us get there by accelerating our footprint in North America with the right partners, in the right places with the right properties," he said.
Sacco joined Starwood in 2003 as vice president of the managed and franchised team for all brands. He was also instrumental in the evolution of the aloft and Element brands.
