Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has signed an agreement with real estate and investment firm Sun-Star Group, led by real estate developer Omar O’Rourke Martinez and his partner Thomas Wahl, for the development and operation of the Radisson Blu Hotel & Resort Ajijic at Lake Chapala, Ajijic, Mexico. Construction of the 96-room hotel is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2016.
Javier Rosenberg, chief operating officer, Americas, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, said in a statement that the Radisson Blu brand was seeing momentum in Latin America following the opening of its first two hotels in Brazil and another scheduled to open soon in Santiago, Chile.
Lake Chapala is close to Guadalajara, Mexico’s second-largest city, and located within 25 minutes of Guadalajara’s international airport as well as El Salto, an important industrial corridor and home to the Mexican and Latin American headquarters for several global corporations.
