AirTran Names Fornaro CEO

At its board meeting on Wednesday, AirTran Holdings named Robert L. Fornaro as CEO to succeed Joe Leonard, who will continue to serve as chairman of the low-fare carrier's board of directors. Most recently, Fornaro served as president and chief operating officer of the airline. He also has worked for such airlines as TWA, Braniff, Northwest Airlines and US Airways. "Bob Fornaro is highly respected throughout the airline industry and has been well known for many years in the media, financial and investor communities for his strategic planning, financial acumen and marketing expertise," Leonard said of his successor.
