Allianz Wants to Know Why Consumers Don't Buy Travel Insurance

travel insurance awareness dayIt's a question agents often ask themselves, scratching their heads in the process. Despite the significant risks of traveling without adequate travel insurance, their clients often say "no" to an agent's suggestion about purchasing travel insurance.

Today, Allianz Global Assistance USA ( is partnering with to find out a bit more about "the why" of that decision.

In a Travel Insurance Awareness Day promotional event, Allianz Global Assistance will offer a contest on the Orbitz booking site that will give the public a chance to win valuable prizes when they submit their best reasons for "not buying" travel insurance.

“We hope that by asking customers to tell us why they don’t need travel insurance, it will cause them to consider those times when travel insurance can be invaluable,” said Mike Nelson, CEO of Allianz Global Assistance USA.
He said the contest is the company's tongue-in-cheek way of raising awareness of the importance of purchasing travel insurance: "We’re looking forward to having some fun with it while we partner with Orbitz to find the best ‘reasons’ people can come up with.”
