American Airlines and BCD Travel to Join NDC-X Program

American Airlines and BCD Travel will join Amadeus' NDC-X (New Distribution Capability) program. The program is a collaboration of multiple industry players to bring NDC-enabled benefits to travelers via Amadeus’ platforms.

Amadeus is working with several airlines and travel sellers to drive the adoption of NDC across the industry. According to the International Air Transportation Association, the goal of the NDC program is to improve the way air products are sold to all kinds of travelers by addressing the industry's distribution limitations. Ultimately, the program is supposed to enhance communications between airlines and travel agents via a universal industry standard. Its leadership board consists of over 20 travel companies.

Amadeus says BCD Travel's involvement with the program will accelerate BCD Travel’s ability to provide services to their customers. The company also says the NDC content is easy to access and compare, so all participants can serve their travelers with ease.

“Our aim is to provide a seamless customer experience that drives the booking, spend management and security processes that add value to client programs,” said Thane Jackson, VP, Global Distribution & Channel Strategy, BCD Travel.

American Airlines is the third airline partner to join the program after Qantas and Avianca. BCD joins alongside other travel management companies including AMEX GBT, CWT and Flight Center.
