APRIL Launches New Plan for Annual Travel Insurance

For travelers who take three or more trips per year for business or leisure, APRIL Travel Protection is launching an Annual / Multi-trip Preferred plan on TravelInsurance.com. The plan includes 11 benefits designed to protect against many of the most commonly experienced scenarios including Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, Missed Connection, Travel Delay, Baggage and Personal Effects, Emergency Medical with no deductible and other benefits such as Trip Inconvenience, which compensates policyholders in the event of a beach, ski, golf or theme park closure, or a missed day of work due to a flight delay or hotel disruption.

APRIL says unlike most annual policies, which tend not include benefits for Trip Cancellation and typically cap Trip Interruption as low as $1,000 per year, the Annual / Multi-trip Preferred plan by APRIL features both Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption with the ability to enhance coverage limits in $1,000 increments. Benefits can be repeatedly drawn from over the course of a 12-month period until the total limit for each benefit is depleted.

Seven possible upgrades give travelers the option to enhance benefits according to their needs, including Rental Car Collision Damage Coverage up to $25,000, Automobile Mechanical Breakdown of one’s own vehicle up to $1,000 (daily limit of $200), Travel Delay up to $1,500 ($250 per day for delays six hours or more) and increased coverage for Baggage and Personal Effects up to $2,500 (or up to $500 for Baggage Delays). For cruise passengers, an optional Missed Port of Call add-on feature will provide up to $600 ($200 per missed port) to compensate passengers whose itineraries were adjusted due to adverse weather or natural disaster.

Starting from $75, it is the industry’s first upgradeable Annual Plan that allows consumers the freedom to define the level of coverage they require without overpaying for benefits they do not need. Policyholders receive benefits for an unlimited number of trips (maximum duration of 30 days per trip) for both domestic and international travel.

The Annual / Multi-trip Preferred plan includes APRIL’s signature "Stress Less" Benefits, a feature which utilizes instant adjudication to bypass the claims process for applicable policy triggers such as severe weather, natural disasters, injury, sickness, death, job loss or relocation, military duty, terrorism, strikes, stolen passport or visa and more.
