ASTA Elects New Executive Committee

Veteran agent Chris Russo was elected ASTA’s president and CEO at THETRADESHOW in Orlando. Russo will serve with Hope Wallace, who was elected to the position of vice president and secretary. George Delanoy was re-elected to serve as ASTA's treasurer. Also serving on ASTA’s Executive Committee will be Roger Block, director-at-large, and chair of the Corporate Advisory Council (CAC), and Bill Maloney, ASTA executive vice president and COO.  Russo is the owner of Travel Partners in Broomfield, CO and a former president of ASTA’s Chapter Presidents Council.

Under ASTA’s new governance rules, the 2008-2009 Executive Committee will serve a one-year term that started this week. The Executive Committee consists of the president and CEO, vice president and secretary, treasurer, chair of the Corporate Advisory Council Chair and an executive vice president and COO (non-voting). ASTA held its board meeting during THETRADESHOW that was attended by 3,000 agents, suppliers and destination managers.

Serving on ASTA's 2008-2009 elected Board of Directors will be Russo; Wallace; Delanoy; Block; Maloney; Lila A. Ford, director-at-large; Lynda Maxwell, director-at-large; Mike McCulloh, director-at-large; Irene C. Ross, director-at-large; Kari Thomas, director-at-large; Carol Wagner, director-at-large; Ellen Bettridge, director-at-large (CAC vice-chair); Patrick Byrne, chair of Chapter Presidents Council; John Lovell; and Scott Pinheiro.

The International Chapter Presidents Council chair is to be announced. ASTA's governance structure calls for a Board of Directors that consists of nine national directors elected at-large for two-yearterms, three chapter presidents, the chair of the International Chapter Presidents' Council, and two Corporate Advisory Council members. ASTA's International Chapter Presidents Council will hold election at its next meeting.
