The American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) has endorsed the Air Travel Fairness Coalition, an advocacy organization pushing for airfare and flight schedule transparency. Other sponsors of the organization include Travelers United (part of the Consumer Federation of America), the Business Travel Coalition and the Travel Technology Association.
“With airline competition at an all-time low and major carriers pushing to undo longstanding consumer protection regulations, we are entering a perilous time for air consumers,” said Eben Peck, executive vice president of advocacy for ASTA, in a written statement. “While ASTA will continue its efforts on behalf of our members and their clients in Congress and at the U.S. Department of Transportation, we are pleased to endorse the Air Travel Fairness Coalition and support its work to fight against the worst effects of consolidation and lack of competition in the U.S. airline industry.”
“We are honored to welcome ASTA to the Air Travel Fairness Coalition, as they share our belief that consumers need access to all public airline, airfare and schedule choices to make an informed decision about what is best for their families and businesses,” said Kurt Ebenhoch, executive director of the Air Travel Fairness Coalition.
The Air Travel Fairness Coalition represents the interests of more than 70,000 travelers, as well as consumer and business organizations, in advocating for airfare and flight schedule transparency.
