Carnival Taps Bank Exec to Run Australian Business

Ann Sherry has been named CEO of Carnival Australia, announced Peter Ratcliffe, CEO of P&O Cruises Intl., which is owned by Carnival Corp. She leaves Westpac Banking Corp. after 13 years where she was group executive. Sherry notes the fast-growing Australian cruise segment as one of the draws to the position, citing an 18 percent leap in Australian passenger numbers last year. "P&O Cruises and Carnival plan to more than double business, including the introduction of the Pacific Dawn, Australia's first superliner, later this year," said Sherry, who will assume her new post in July. "The prospect of implementing those plans and being part of Carnival's growth is a great professional and business challenge."
