GTA to Spark Inbound Travel from China

GTA by Travelport reports that GTA Americas is hosting a 'Visit North America Road Show' in Shanghai and Beijing from June 21-26. The road show will bring together North American representatives of convention and visitors bureaus (CVBs), destination marketing organizations (DMOs) and travel suppliers in a single forum. Destination presentations and networking seminars will be a part of the road show which will be attended by top sales and operations staff from leading travel agencies and GTA customers in China.

"North America is an increasingly popular destination for Chinese tourists and this is the first time a travel wholesaler has hosted a number of major North American companies in a single forum in China," says Richie Karaburun, president of GTA Americas Inbound. "This is a great opportunity and a cost effective means for North American CVBs, DMOs and suppliers to gain invaluable inroads to the Chinese outbound tourism industry through our established network. In turn, travel agents in China will benefit from the combined expertise of a variety of North American travel professionals in one arena."

Traditionally, road shows in China are organized by a single CVB or airline to showcase their particular region or travel product, GTA says. The GTA 'Visit North America Road Show' also coincides with two other major annual travel events in China for tourism professionals – The sixth International Forum on Chinese Outbound Tourism (IFCOT2010) and the seventh Beijing International Tourism Exposition (BITE 2010).
