Hurtigruten, the Norwegian cruise line, has launched an online education program, "Hurtigruten Academy" for travel agents.
The lessons consist of 14 15-60 minute modules, each equipped with a pretest, topical content, interactive activities and a final review. Upon successful completion of the course, agents become Certified Hurtigruten Specialists and receive a Certificate of Achievement and window decal to display their achievement to their clients. In addition, agents earn valuable CEU's from the Travel Institute and up to 15 credits from CLIA.
Some examples of the modules include, "Who is Hurtigruten?," "A Closer Look at the Ships," "Benefits to Travel Agents" and "Completing the Sale." The company's expanded Travel Agent site also offers online videos that can be shared with clients, postcards, information on educational seminars in conjunction with CLIA training, and an overview of Hurtigruten's highest level of agent accomplishment - the Elite Status Program.
