Kerzner International Taps Former Starwood Exec As President

Kerzner International, operator of the Atlantis and One&Only brands, has appointed former Starwood Hotels & Resorts president and COO, Robert Cotter, as the company's new president. The 55-year-old will be responsible for Kerzner's overall operations and marketing, as well as being an integral part in the company's future development. Prior to joining Kerzner, Cotter was COO of Starwood from 2000 to 2003 and added the title of president thereafter until 2005. Solomon Kerzner, the company's founder and chairman, made the announcement on Wednesday. His son, Butch Kerzner, who was the company's CEO, was tragically killed in a helicopter accident in October along with three others, while surveying potential development sites. Kerzner International is currently building a second 1,500-room Atlantis resort in Dubai, slated to open in late 2008.
