Kinkára, a sustainable, luxury eco-resort in Costa Rica that is part of the Cayuga Collection, is now accepting bookings from individual travelers starting this summer. Rates begin at $190 per night based on double occupancy.
The 800-acre property is situated in the foothills of the Talamanca mountain range, near the base of Mount Chirripó, Costa Rica’s tallest peak. Kinkára previously launched in September 2018 exclusively to private groups. Now, the resort’s various amenities, including epicurean Earth-to-plate cuisine from the onsite restaurant, bath houses, and activities like mindfulness classes and excursions, are available to individuals.
Accommodations
The 31 Lotus Belle Tents are peppered around the property’s common spaces, El Morén and the Mandala Garden, and along the riverbank. Each tent features wood furnishings handcrafted by local artisans, organic 500-thread-count cotton linens, and screened windows and doors. Other amenities include solar-powered reading lights, plush robes, warm duvets, USB charging pods, natural-fiber jute carpets, and high-speed Wi-Fi.
Spa Baths
Custom crafted for Kinkára, the facilities feature large vanities, organic cotton towels, locally crafted skincare and soaps made with natural coconut oil and hot rainfall showers with views of the untouched countryside.
Cuisine
Ayurveda specialist and award-winning Chef Kuntal Kumar utilizes hand-picked produce from the resort’s Mandala herb garden and 10,000-tree “food forest” for experiences like family-style feasting or tasting menus that pay homage to Mesoamerican cuisine. Food options include handmade dark chocolate, nut butters, daily soups, and even hand-ground flours. Guests can also choose from site-brewed kombucha, fresh-pressed juices, expertly crafted cocktails, local beer and organic wines.
Activities
Kinkára’s physical and spiritual activities include yoga and meditation, river hiking, mountain biking on custom-designed paths, or taking part in an ancient cacao ceremony. Guests can also learn about permaculture in the Mandala Garden and help pick ingredients for dinner, find balance on the slackline, go on a horseback ride, paddle out to the country’s surf spots, and zip line through the jungle.
Groups & Events
Kinkára can host anywhere from 10 to 45 guests at a time for weddings and social events, digital detox getaways, alternative healing workshops and leadership seminars.
