Maine Tourism Up, Officials State

Tourism in Maine for 2005 rose 12 percent, well ahead of the national mark of 2 percent, the Main Office of Tourism reports. Main saw 9.7 million overnight trips in 2005 resulting in direct expenditures of $3.1 billion. Main Govenor John E. Baldacci released the figures at the inaugaration of a new large vessel dock at Bangor Landing on the Penobscot River Monday.
