Mekong Tourism Office opens in Bangkok

The Mekong Tourism Office opened in Bangkok on Feb. 1. Its focus is coordinating the tourism marketing and development work of the Greater Mekong Sub-region, which comprises Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and China's Guanxi and Yunnan provinces. Stephen Yong, a former PATA executive, has been named executive director of the office. He is tasked with implementing the new Mekong Tourism Strategy. The office is located at Thailand's Ministry of Tourism and Sport.
