New Hawaii Travel Planners for Travel Agents Released

The editors of Travel Agent magazine have released the Hawaii Adventure Travel Focus, along with the Hawaii Romance Travel Focus and the Hawaii Family Travel Focus, for travel agents interested in selling Hawaii. In addition to nearly 30 activities and attractions, the travel planner previews several resorts that will appeal to active travelers, including families and couples.

Where the Action Is

Hawaii’s diverse landscape means that adventure can be found on land, at sea and in the air and the guide presents the best options for each.

On Land

Volcanoes, waterfalls and ziplining beckon your clients to stay on dry land (at least for a little while). The ‘Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Adventure’ features a four-mile hike down the Kilauea Iki crater, through the rainforest and across the still-steaming crater floor or out the current lava flow. For clients who would appreciate more soft adventure, send them to the non-profit Lanai Cat Sanctuary, where they can book a ‘pet n’ purr’ session and snuggle with cats in an outdoor enclosure.

At Sea

If walking across a steaming crater isn’t thrilling enough for your clients, recommend they fly through the air on Hawaii’s longest zipline, the FlyLine Zipline, which spans 4,000 feet with a 50-foot launch pad. Additionally, the planner suggests both Kumini Beach Park and Polihua Beach for watching sea life; the Private Guided Hilo Tour by Kayak by KapohoKine; Ocean Sports’ whale watching cruises; and Nancy Emerson School of Surfing on Oahu and Maui for private and semi-private lessons.

In the Air

Helicopter tours are nothing new in Hawaii, but the caliber of tours does fluctuate from good to great. The guide highlights the best helicopter tours, including the Circle of Fire Helicopter Tour, which features views of lava flows, rainforests and waterfalls—all while you learn Hawaii’s history and culture; and the Heli Ranch Experience, which combines a private helicopter tour of the East Maui waterfalls and horseback riding at Piiholo Ranch, which is perched 2,000 feet on the slopes of Haleakala.
