The American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) reports its presented its Allied Member of the Year Award to Chris Kroeger, senior vice president of marketing for Sabre Travel Network for his outstanding contributions to the travel industry. Each year, ASTA acknowledges one of its Allied members for having positively impacted the travel agency community.
“It’s hard to think of someone more deserving of this award than Chris Kroeger, whose expertise and influence among the industry’s key players has earned him the admiration of colleagues and competitors alike,” said Tony Gonchar, ASTA CEO. “He has been a long-term and staunch supporter of ASTA and the travel agency industry and so this recognition is richly deserved.”
In his current position with Sabre Travel Network, Kroeger is responsible for the company’s product and customer marketing. Previously, Kroeger lead the Sabre Travel Network North America, Latin America, EMEA and Global Customer divisions, where he had responsibility for sales and service for leisure travel agencies, online travel agencies, travel management companies and corporations. He has also served as president of GetThere, the company's leading corporate travel and collaboration solution.
He started with the company 20 years ago in market research and held subsequent positions in product marketing, sales planning and regional sales. He also led the launch and development of Jurni Network, the Sabre leisure agency consortium, and was the general manager for Nexion, the full-service host agency of Sabre.
Kroeger is active in the travel industry, having served on the ASTA Allied Marketing Council and on the Global Business Travel Association’s (formerly NBTA) Allied Leadership Council in recent years. He also served as chairperson for the Sabre Holdings annual GiveTogether volunteer and charity fundraising campaign in 2007.
He earned both bachelor and master of business administration degrees from the University of Texas at Austin.
Kroeger has given keynote addresses at numerous travel industry events, including ASTA, Association of Corporate Travel Executives, and GBTA (formerly NBTA) events on three continents.
