Shields Named GM of Island Routes Caribbean Adventure Tours

Island Routes Caribbean Adventure Tours announced the appointment of David L. Shields as its new general manager beginning February 1, 2011.  Shields will take over the company’s expansion into new markets and will be responsible for new product and business development, along with marketing and advertising. Island Routes currently holds outposts in Jamaica, Saint Lucia, the Bahamas, Antigua and the Turks & Caicos Islands.

Shields previously worked at the the Jamaica Tourist Board, where he was appointed deputy director of tourism in January 2004 and was responsible for the global marketing initiatives for the nation’s multi-billion dollar tourism product. Prior to his stint with Jamaica, he served as director of market development at Air Jamaica Vacations, and was the assistant director of tourism at the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism.

Shields received Travel Agent''s "Rising Star in Tourism - Destinations" award for 1998/99, honoring his contribution to the development of tourism in the Cayman Islands.
