Stats: Average Travel Agent Salary $61,000

The average travel agent salary is $61,595.19 annually, according to an ongoing survey by Hot Travel Jobs.

Hot Travel Jobs said that the survey was still in progress, and that the data that provided this number is still raw. The company plans to break the average salary down by category, such as for leisure travel agents, corporate travel agents and corporate travel managers, as the survey continues.

Previously, Hot Travel Jobs had reported that initial survey results showed that corporate travel agent salaries had risen 25 percent in 2016.

The survey is being conducted by emails being sent to travel agents around the industry. Responses from all participants will be combined, analyzed, and the findings reported only in their aggregate form, Hot Travel Jobs said.

The salary information comes as many industry organizations are reporting a strong outlook for the year. In a January press conference Travel Leaders Network reported that 83 percent of its agents said that overall bookings are the same as or higher than the same time last year – rising to 93 percent when just considering cruise bookings.

According to Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA)’s Cruise Travel Report, cruise travel is set to rise this year as more Millennial and Generation Y travelers take to the waves, which is good news for travel agents – cruisers make particularly loyal customers, with 82 percent of cruise travelers saying that they tend to work with a travel agent, as compared to 40 percent of non-cruise travelers.
