Stats: Viking, Regent Named Best for Cruise Line Wi-Fi

Viking Ocean Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises provide the best onboard Wi-Fi, according to a new study from Frontier Bundles, an authorized sales agent for Frontier Communications.

Rounding out the remainder of the 11 best cruise lines in the report are Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, Silversea Cruises, Crystal Cruises, Carnival Cruise Line, Seabourn Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean International, Azamara Club Cruises, Disney Cruise Line and Windstar Cruises.

Frontier compiled the report via a series of emails, phone calls and tweets to cruise lines over the course of three weeks. The 11 cruise lines included in the study are those that both responded to inquiries and that provided all of the requested information, including speed and pricing information. Of the 20 cruise lines originally included in the outreach process, only 17 responded. Of those responses, six offered Internet pricing plans but would not provide any specific speed information.

The ranking for regular users compared the speeds and prices needed for daily access to social media on a five-day cruise, or for one hour per day where daily rates were not available. Price was valued over speed.

Speeds were based on information provided by each company, respectively. Actual Wi-Fi speeds will vary by many factors, including but not limited to weather conditions and cruise ship locations.
