UNWTO, WTM Launch World Responsible Tourism Day

On September 27 of each year, the United Nations and the tourism industry celebrate World Tourism Day. Now, the World Tourism Organization (UNWT) and the World Travel Market have partnered on the launch of an extension, to be known as World Responsible Tourism Day. The UNWTO says it sees the new day as a logical outreach program that will take the UN's awareness program into action-oriented initiatives, says Geoffrey Lipman, UNWTO assistant secretary-general. The day will be scheduled to fall during the annual World Travel Market.
