The peaceful solarium at the Spa

The peaceful solarium at the Spa at Vail Mountain Lodge overlooks Gore Creek

Although ski season is long over, most resorts remain open year-round and have top-of-the-line spas and scenic vistas that make for perfect summer getaways—many at bargain, off-season prices. Here are a couple to recommend to your clients in any season.

The Cliff Spa at Snowbird

The 20,000-square-foot Cliff Spa is part of the Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort near the Wasatch National Forest in Utah. The facility occupies the top two floors of the resort’s Cliff Lodge and includes 20 treatment rooms, dry saunas, a salon, eucalyptus steam room, fitness center and yoga studio. We like the rooftop pool and Jacuzzi, which come with 360-degree views of the National Forest.

The Cliff Spa has a menu of treatments with specialties such as Thai and Hot Stone massage body wraps, scrubs, facials and a list of signature treatments. Ask about arranging in-room spa treatments. Manicures, pedicures, scalp treatments and styling are available at the salon. Facility memberships for the length of the stay can also be purchased.

Travel agents can contact Spa Director Marlen Stewart (801-933-2225, [email protected]) for more information.

The Spa at Vail Mountain Lodge

Overlooking Gore Creek and Vail Mountain, The Spa at Vail Mountain Lodge is in the heart of Colorado’s Vail Village. The Spa’s philosophy is that physical activity is just as vital to rejuvenation as pampering and relaxation. With some help from the lodge’s fitness center, guests craft their own treatments combining both fitness and restoration.

The Spa consists of 13 treatment rooms with hydrotherapy tubs and massage tables. Each space is accented with candles and crystal lamps that give off a soft, soothing glow. Guests can begin their experience reclining in a lounge chair as they look out onto Gore Creek.

Once in a treatment room, they can choose from a variety of massages, facials and body treatments. The Spa has 10 signature treatments, each of which lasts 100 minutes. Suggest the Lu’Lur Ritual, which includes a rhythmical body brushing; a calming skin coating of coconut, camellia and marigold oil; an exfoliation with turmeric, rice powder and sandalwood; and finally a rose yogurt bath and facial.

We like The Spa’s Mountain Divas program, designed specifically for the empowered woman. It combines motivational fitness with spa lifestyle. Think daily hikes, runs, mountain biking and rock climbing complemented by spa treatments, Pilates and yoga.

Guests can round out the rest of the experience with a trip to the salon, a steam sauna and Jacuzzi. Contact Spa Director Lisa DeKoster at 866-326-6094 or [email protected].
