Two Music Fests Attract Top Artists to Spain

Spain’s Mediterranean coastal region of Murcia will be filled with jazz, blues, world and rock music from two major festivals.

Kicking off tomorrow and running through July 26, the 12th San Javier International Jazz Festival will feature 16 concerts with music greats like John Fogarty of Creedence Clearwater Revival and Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra.

Sixteen miles down the road, the city of Cartagena, rich with impressive Roman ruins, will be presenting music, art and film at the 15th Ocean of Music, Art and Film Festival beginning July 4 and running through August 31. Cuba’s Buena Vista Social Club, Algeria’s Rachid Taha and England’s own Marianne Faithful are set to perform.

Prices for San Javier’s 12th International Jazz festival start at $16.75.  A 10-night ticket costs $150. John Fogarty will be playing July 10 (tickets are on sale for $70) and Wynton Marsalis ($35.) Tickets for individual performances at the Ocean of Music Festival range between $14 and $35. Unlimited access to concerts at Torres Park is $126 (90 euros) and to the Patio de Armas it is $84. Each package includes two concerts at the Old Cathedral.
