Aurora Expeditions Announces Patagonia Treks

Aurora Expeditions has introduced treks in Patagonia, with the first voyage setting sail on November 19, 2022. The two 10-day itineraries, “Patagonia Discovery Trek” and “Torres Del Paine Explorer,” dovetail seamlessly with the Australian adventure travel company’s Antarctic sailings.

Michael Heath, CEO of Aurora Expeditions, said: “Many of our Antarctic passengers wish to extend their time in the South American region and these new itineraries are designed to make the most of their schedule. The Patagonia experience complements our comprehensive range of Antarctic itineraries, and now with two ships, the Greg Mortimer and the soon-to-launch Sylvia Earle, the 2022/23 season is able to meet the increasing demand for people to take that once-in-a-lifetime trip.”

The “Torres Del Paine Explorer” stays within the Chilean border and the “Patagonia Discovery Trek” offers explorers three options, allowing them to combine an Antarctic sailing with a trek: an Argentina return trip; an itinerary from Argentina to Chile; and a Chile to Argentina version.

On the 10-day “Patagonia Discovery Trek,” guests will explore the vast wilderness on a guided walking trip to Los Glaciares National Park and Torres del Paine National Park, besides the Perito Moreno Glacier. Trekkers will hike rugged trails overlooking glacial lakes, as Andean condors soar overhead among the snow-capped peaks.

Travelers opting for the 10-day “Torres del Paine Explorer” itinerary can immerse themselves in the treasures of Chilean Patagonia. They can marvel at the alpine scenery and spot wildlife at the Torres del Paine National Park with four full days of hiking with a local guide. Later, they will ascend through the Ascencio Valley along the W Trek and take in the views on the lesser-known Lazo-Weber Trail while keeping their eyes peeled for rheas, flamingos and guanacos.

Each guided trek is based on twin-sharing and is limited to a maximum of 20 hikers, ensuring immersive small-group opportunities. Tip: Passengers can save up to five percent when booking a trek with an Antarctic cruise. Rates are inclusive of nightly accommodation, most meals, private ground transport, all guide fees and national park entrance fees.
