Beginning in September 2020, travelers will have the opportunity to book Collette’s new 13-day “Journey Through Egypt and Jordan” tour. From Cairo to Petra, this new itinerary will introduce guests to the lands of legends.
Here’s a look at some of the highlights:
Cairo – Giza
Starting in Egypt’s capital city Cairo, guests will have the opportunity to sit with an Egyptologist and hear stories of ancient Egypt; visit the Egyptian Museum, a collection of some of Egypt’s oldest artifacts; and enjoy a dinner featuring traditional local specialties. After venturing to Giza, guests will stand before the Pyramids of Giza, one of the seven ancient wonders of the world, and see the Great Sphinx, a structure jutting out of the desert sand.
Aswan – Philae
On day five, guests will board a two-hour flight to Aswan, a port city up the Nile River. Guests can choose to partake in an optional tour to Abu Simbel to see the temples of Ramses II or use the time as self-exploration. After, guests will venture together on a motorboat to discover Philae’s temple, located on a small island.
Starting in Luxor’s West Bank, guests will delve deeper into Egyptian legends while trekking along the tombs in the Valley of Kings. Guests will then continue to a local farm along the Nile, where guests can sip freshly brewed tea and discuss the Egyptian way of life with locals. In the evening, a sound and light show at Karnak Temple will be presented for guests.
Petra – Dead Sea – Madaba
Once in Jordan, guests will connect with a local women’s community in Petra where they can learn traditional rug weaving. Guests will then go on to Bethany Beyond the Jordan, the venerated site of Jesus Christ’s baptism. In Madaba, guests can connect with natives while enjoying lunch and discussing Arabic literature and culture.
