Continental Airlines and US Helicopter Corporation this week announced a
deal to provide an eight-minute shuttle service between Manhattan
and NewarkLibertyInternationalAirport
in New Jersey.
Service begins December 18 and also includes similarly quick commutes to Connecticut's BridgeportSikorskyAirport
in 37 minutes and New York's JohnF.KennedyAirport
in 53 minutes. US Helicopter's President and CEO Jerry Murphy said he expects
the shuttle service to be a "fast and easy option for time-sensitive business
travelers coming in and out of Manhattan." The New York
to Newark
service departs from the downtown Manhattan Heliport at Wall Street. Bags
checked at the heliport will be checked through to the passenger's final
destination. At Newark,
travelers arrive at a US Helicopter parking location at the airport's Terminal
C, where they are then able to proceed directly to their Continental flight.
Separately, Continental also announced a new web site allowing clients of
American Express Business Travel to check in, reserve or update seat selections
and print boarding passes for the carrier's flights through Amex's corporate
booking tool. "This co-branded airline/travel management company web site expedites
the check-in process for American Express Business Travel clients," Monisa
Cline, staff vice president of North America
sales for Continental, said in a statement. "Corporate travelers will receive
personalized flight reminders and be able to check in and print their boarding
passes before heading to the airport, allowing them to go directly to security
and the boarding gate."
