Golf Course at Fairmont St Andrews Reopens

StAndrews

The Torrance golf course at Scotland’s Fairmont St Andrews has reopened following a lengthy redesign, as part of a $28.5 million renovation program at the resort.

After an 18-month closure for remodeling, the course will be hosting the Scottish Senior Open from August 21-23. The course’s designer, Sam Torrance, will be among the players, and will be looking to improve on his runner up place in 2008 behind Peter Mitchell.

Located just south of St Andrews, the Fairmont is a five-star luxury resort with 209 rooms and suites. The resort has undergone an extensive renovation over the past 18 months, including a $30,162 per key investment on all rooms.

The Fairmont Spa Collection has been expanded to 9,000 square feet.

The Fairmont St Andrews has been nominated by the World Travel Awards in the “Europe’s Leading Golf Resort” category. It also was voted Resort Hotel of the Year 2008 by Golf Tourism Scotland.
