London To Get Piece of Tour de France in 2007

Part of next year's Tour de France will take place in London, Visit London announced this week. The race's opening cermony, prologue and start of Stage 1 all will take place in the U.K. capital, a development that Visit London Chief Executive James Bidwell called "a fantastic opportunity for London." The route will pass by many attractions and famous landmarks, he added, offering the chance for the city to highlight its attractions. Visit London added that it expects more than 1 million people to various locations throughout the city, and estimates 335,000 bed nights to be booked. Visit [www.tourdefrancelondon.com].
