Preferred and AmEx Team Up on Golf Program

AmEx has teamed up with the Preferred Hotel Group, a sales and marketing arm for more than 400 hotels, on the Preferred Golf Club. For an annual membership fee of $595, members are extended one complimentary round of golf per year at each participating resort, which includes Ireland's K Club Golf and Spa Resort (the home course for last year's Ryder Cup), The Lodge at Sea Island and Sandy Lane Resort. "We look forward to introducing American Express card members to a growing number of world-class golf experiences as we continue to add to our Preferred Golf Resorts portfolio," said Casey Ueberroth, managing director of Preferred Golf and son of Preferred's CEO, John Ueberroth. Golf, for many, has become not only a hobby, but also a lifestyle. Preferred understood that it had many great golf clubs in its portfolio, so why not devise a program that helps showcase them? "Golf is an important element of our card member's lifestyle," said Chris Cowan, vice president and general manager of lodging at American Express Merchant Services. American Express members can enroll online at [www.preferredgolf.com]. For hotel reservations and tee times, club members should call the Preferred Golf Club Desk at 888-893-6697.
