Travel Corporation, Tourism Cares Work to Preserve Grand Canyon

The Travel Corporation's latest sustainable tourism initiative is a partnership with TourismCares to help preserve the Grand Canyon. This project was funded by The Travel Corporation's Conservation Foundation, and is the sixth sustainable tourism project funded by the organization.

As part of the project, 20 of The Travel Corporation's staff from its U.S. offices took part in a Grand Canyon Conservation Day in May, volunteering to restore native vegetation in a select area of the National Park in a project that was coordinated by Tourism Cares.

In establishing the Conservation Foundation, The Travel Corporation brands are doing their part to ensure the preservation of our natural environment for future generations. The Foundation includes Brendan Vacations, Contiki, Insight Vacations, Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection, Lion World Tours, African Travel, Destination America, AAT Kings and Trafalgar Tours.

This Grand Canyon project is the first step in The Travel Corporation Conservation Foundation's partnership with Tourism Cares to protect North America's national parks with further initiatives to be rolled out in the future.

The Travel Corporation's Conservation Foundation was established in 2008 to encourage sustainable tourism and support communities, natural environments and historic sites all over the world. Since its inception, The Travel Corporation's Conservation Foundation has worked with the Venice in Peril charity to research the preservation of Venice and its monuments, supported Conservation International and the protection of Atlantic Forests in Brazil and continues to fund the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to develop sustainable indigenous tourism in Australia's precious Kimberley region.
