American Express Opens New Lounge at Melbourne Airport

American Express has announced the expansion of its American Express Global Lounge Collection with the opening of a new American Express Lounge in the Melbourne Airport (MEL), making it the second American Express Lounge in Australia, following Sydney.

Now open in Terminal 2 at the Satellite Level Departures area, the American Express Lounge in the Melbourne Airport will offer card members a place to relax while traveling through Australia. The lounge's hours are 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week.

Spanning more than 2,800 square feet, the new lounge will offer complimentary food and beverages; high-speed Wi-Fi; computer and copy facilities; flight information screens; and a selection of local and international magazines and newspapers.

The American Express Global Lounge Collection gives Platinum Card members access to more than 1,100 lounges around the world, in 500 plus cities, across 120 countries and counting. 

The American Express Global Lounge Collection is comprised of the American Express Centurion lounge network; the International American Express lounges; Delta Sky Club; Priority Pass Select lounges; Airspace Lounge, Escape Lounge US and Plaza Premium lounges.

The Latest Flights to Australia

Here are some new Australia flights, which passengers can utilize American Express' lounges in either Melbourne or Sydney.

In February, Air Canada commenced nonstop flights between Vancouver and Melbourne. The service will move to three times a week year-round in June. In addition, Qantas is preparing to launch a Melbourne to Los Angeles flight for mid-December.

In January, United Airlines began daily, nonstop service between its Houston hub and Sydney, AustraliaUnited’s flight between Houston and Sydney is operated with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, each with a total of 252 seats: 48 flat-bed seats in United Polaris business class, 63 Economy Plus seats and 141 seats in United Economy.
