American Offers Ice Cream Treats

American Airlines is indulging flyers with a sweet treat this holiday season. Beginning November 1, American customers can satisfy their sweet tooth with new Ben & Jerry’s sundaes when traveling in Business Class.

On American flights from the U.S. to Europe, Japan, Latin America, India and China, flyers can treat themselves to a tasty Ben & Jerry’s sundae with flavors including Heath Bar Crunch, Rocky Road and Cookies & Cream.

Other food and beverage enhancements onboard American Airlines’ domestic and international flights began earlier this year.  These program updates vary by cabin and route, but include new styles of china, cutlery and wine glasses, new baked onboard cookies, and a fresh green salad.

American began implementing complimentary dining enhancements in April and has continued to update its service throughout the year.

“Throughout 2009, we’ve strategically fine-tuned our inflight dining experience by adjusting and augmenting our existing service,” said John Tiliacos, American’s managing director of onboard products.  “We hope that these enhancements – whether it’s a premium Ben & Jerry’s ice cream sundae or a new, larger wine glass – will positively impact our customers’ travel experience.”

Service enhancements include new styles of china and cutlery in First and Business Class; new wine glasses in premium cabins on select flights; new baked onboard cookies in premium cabins on all American Airlines flights; the introduction of an appetizer course and bread plate, as well as a new cheesecake in domestic First Class; a new fresh cake dessert option for customers traveling internationally in Economy Class; and a variety of other enhanced food and beverage offerings for customers traveling in premium cabins as well as flying internationally in Economy Class.
