The American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) has advised members that American Airlines, effective July 23, and United Airlines, effective July 15, have imposed ticketing time limit restrictions on all refundable inventories. Premium and full coach fares ticketing is required at least three days prior to departure, or if a reservation is made within three days of departure, ticketing is required within one day of booking.
For all other refundable coach fares, ticketing is required within one day of booking. ASTA urges agents to check out AA's policy on their website, www.aa.com. United’s policy can be found in its Direct Reference System (DRS) file in agents' Global Distribution System (GDS). United advises agents to check individual fare rules to determine the appropriate ticketing requirements. Effective July 23, AA has increased its same-day confirmed flight change fee to $50, ASTA said.
