BermudAir Achieves Autism Double-Checked Certification

BermudAir has achieved Autism Double-Checked certification, the airline announced. This milestone comes as BermudAir reflects on its first year of operation.

Per the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s most recent study (2023), one in 36 children is born with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). By ensuring that 100 percent of its employees completed specialized autism awareness and sensitivity training, BermudAir has taken a significant step in fostering an inclusive travel environment. The airline’s certification, it says, demonstrates its dedication to creating stress-free and accessible journeys for travelers with autism and their families.

Through its comprehensive certification programs, U.S.-based Autism Double-Checked works with airlines, hotels and airports to enhance autism readiness across the travel experience. Their three-tier system emphasizes a progressive commitment to inclusivity, equipping industry professionals with essential tools and training to better accommodate the unique needs of travelers on the autism spectrum.

In addition to this certification, BermudAir has announced its support for Tomorrow’s Voices, a local organization dedicated to autism awareness and early intervention. Tomorrow’s Voices is Bermuda’s leading autism center, providing essential services and support to individuals and families within the autism community. BermudAir will collaborate with the organization to amplify its impact and help empower Bermuda’s autism community.

In addition to Tomorrow’s Voices’ support of the ADC certification, BermudAir has announced that the Fairmont Southampton will become the island’s first hotel to pledge that its staff will undergo the ADC training. Bermuda Skyport also joins the efforts in embracing this important initiative to create a more inclusive travel experience for all.

To further support families and individuals, BermudAir invites travelers to explore the “Travelling Info” section on its website, which includes a Flyer’s Guide as a resource for parents and caretakers. This guide highlights the airline's efforts to create a more inclusive travel experience. With our staff fully trained in autism awareness and committed to accessible travel, the aim is to make the journey for families with autism as seamless as possible.
