Brightline Exploring Disney World Train Station

Private rail company Brightline – soon to be Virgin Trains – is exploring the possibility of building a station at Walt Disney World Resort, Ben Porritt, Brightline’s senior vice president, has confirmed to Travel Agent. The move would provide a direct rail connection to Orlando International Airport

“We are continuing to explore the possibility of building a station on Walt Disney World Resort property, which we believe will help transform the region,” Porritt says. “A proposed station would provide a direct rail connection to Orlando International Airport and serve as the initial segment for Virgin Trains’ future extension to Tampa. A Disney station would offer the 126 million visitors and 21 million residents of Florida a car-free option to the state’s most visited attraction and one of the world’s greatest destinations.”

Brightline currently operates from downtown Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, and the company has been working to expand its rail network in Florida. Most recently the Boca Raton City Council approved a long-term land lease for a Brightline station near the city’s Downtown Library, with construction to begin in 2021; also planned is a station in PortMiami, which would provide a direct rail link for cruise passengers between the port and the Orlando airport.

Brightline offers 20 percent commission to travel agents. It also offers agents train-to-port packages, which bundle offerings together allowing guests traveling to park their car, check in and check their luggage at Brightline stations before boarding the cruise at all three South Florida ports. The train-to-port packages include Lyft ride credits and a mimosa onboard.
