Delta Air Lines has announced the launch of two nonstop routes from Atlanta to Cape Town, and Los Angeles to Tahiti, both beginning December 17. The airline will also add nonstop service from Atlanta to Tel Aviv beginning next May.
With the addition of service to Cape Town from Atlanta, the airline will offer 10 times weekly service to South Africa, via Cape Town and Johannesburg. The launch of the Tel Aviv service brings the total of weekly Delta flights to Tel Aviv to 13, from three U.S. hubs—Atlanta, Boston and New York-JFK. In Los Angeles, the airline reopened the first phase of the new Delta Sky Way at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) earlier this year, complete with a Delta Sky Club; the joint $2.3 billion investment in collaboration with Los Angeles World Airports is slated for completion next year.
The Atlanta–Cape Town service will operate Monday, Thursday and Saturday on the Airbus A350-900 starting December 17, 2022. The flight departs Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) at 8:50 p.m. and arrives in Cape Town International Airport (CPT) at 6:15 p.m. the next day. The return flight departs CPT at 10:50 p.m. and arrives in ATL at 8 a.m. the next day.
The Atlanta–Tel Aviv (TLV) service will operate Wednesday, Friday, Sunday on the Airbus A350-900 starting May 10, 2023 (westbound service starts May 8). The flight departs ATL at 2 p.m. and arrives in Ben Gurion International Airport at 9:15 a.m. the next day. The return flight departs TLV at 11:30 a.m. and arrives in ATL at 5:55 p.m.
The Los Angeles–Tahiti (PPT) service will operate Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday on the Boeing 767-300ER starting December 17, 2022. The flight departs LAX at 11:10 a.m. and arrives in Fa'a'ā International Airport at 6:10 p.m. The return flight departs PPT at 8:10 p.m. and arrives in LAX at 6:40 a.m. (next day).
The airline offers a choice of four experiences—Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin. Delta One amenities include artisan-made Someone Somewhere amenity kits, soft bedding made from recycled materials, pre-departure beverage service, chef-curated three-course meals and desserts featuring build-your-own ice cream sundaes.
Those traveling in Delta Premium Select, the airline’s premium economy cabin, will have more space to relax and stretch out with a wider seat with deeper recline, an adjustable footrest and leg rest. Upgraded amenity kits include noise-canceling headsets, blankets and memory-foam pillows. In the months ahead, Delta will continue to evolve the Delta Premium Select experience, with onboard enhancements, an elevated dining experience and amenity kits featuring curated travel essentials. All customers will have access to Wi-Fi onboard and Delta’s seatback entertainment and in-seat power and USB ports. Customers will also enjoy refreshed F&B options from small businesses, suppliers from across the globe and woman- and LGBTQ+-led brands.
