First Korean Air A380 Flight Departs New York for Asia

The first Korean Air A380 flight to Asia from New York departs today, August 9, 2011.

Korean Air flight 082 will leave from JFK at 2 p.m.

The new A380 aircraft has been configured to contain approximately 407 seats. Seating consists of 12 Kosmo First Class suites and 301 Economy Class seats on the first level, with the upstairs featuring 94 lie-flat sleepers spaced six feet apart. 

In addition to seating, the A380 features three bars: a Celestial Bar, a hosted bar with a lounge offering signature cocktails, along with self-serve bars in First Class and at the front of Prestige Class. The A380 has also brought about a new service partnership between Celestial Bar and Absolut.

Korean Air's Duty Free Showcase, which will be at the base of a spiral staircase leading up to the  Prestige Class section, will feature cosmetics, perfumes, liquor, and accessories.

The airline will be adding Los Angeles A380 service in October.

Recently, the airline launched its second Airbus 380 with weekly flights on the Seoul/Incheon - New York route.
