Founder of Auto Europe Passes at 79

Alex Cecil, founder of Auto Europe, passed away Sunday, December 20 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He was 79.

He started his company in Germany in 1954, renting cars to American travelers in Europe. The company then relocated to New York and finally Camden, ME. After Cecil's retirement, the company was handed over to Imad Khalidi.

Today Auto Europe services over 4,000 car rental locations. They also offer scheduled airfare to Europe with over 30 carriers though their tour division, Destination Europe.
