Lufthansa Offers Special Meals, Snacks on European Flights

Beginning August 20 and continuing for five weeks, Lufthansa will have a number of culinary options in store for Business Class travelers on various European routes.

Every Thursday, the airline will offer its passengers a Bento box with Asian delicacies. The selection will include sushi, maki and other small dishes such as chicken braised in soy sauce, noodle salad, green seaweed salad, beef salad and exotic fruit. The contents of Lufthansa's Bento box are designed by Lufthansa chefs in collaboration with Hiroshi Akutsu, the master sushi chef of the Medici Restaurant in Baden-Baden.

During the remaining summer months, Lufthansa passengers flying First Class on long-distance flights during the day, guests will have a choice of lime sorbet with champagne, a strawberry cup, tartufo or a classic mixed ice cream. Until the end of August, on longer routes within Europe and on domestic German flights from Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg and Dusseldorf, Business Class passengers will be offered ice cream cones.

Lufthansa's "Blue Hour" will resume at the beginning of September, and every Friday from then on, Business Class passengers on select domestic German and European flights can look forward to an international cocktail, with accompanying menu variations to match the country of origin of the cocktail.

In the second half of September, passengers at selected Lufthansa lounges in Frankfurt will have a chance to sample some Viennese specialties. In addition, three types of Viennese wine and jams from the Austrian capital and Viennese pastries will be offered, as well as Austrian pralines. A series of raffles will be held in the lounges with attractive prizes, including items by Viennese designers and nearly a thousand bottles of Viennese wine.
