Northwest Airlines is pushing forward with its application to the U.S. Department of Transportation to operate service between its Detroit hub and Shanghai, China. Northwest says that 90,000 people have submitted letters on behalf of its application to the U.S. Department of Transportation. Northwest predicts that 214,000 passengers would utilize the service in its first year.
