Paris-based newspaper Liberation is reporting that Air France KLM and state railways company SNCF are currently in preliminary discussions about cooperating on high-speed train development before the planned liberalization of rail travel by 2010. According to the paper, SNCF offered to set up a special joint unit with Air France for rail links between airport hubs.
The report comes after Air France reiterated its interest in high-speed train travel as it announced last week that it was in talks with Veolia Transport.
Neither Air France or SNCF made any immediate comment on the report.
