After being shut down for more than five months, maritime authorities say that the Isla Blanca ferry service is now up and running, Riviera Maya News reports.
The Ports and Maritime Affairs Captaincies Unit says that after compliance with the new guidelines established by The Deputy General Directorate of Maritime Protection and Certification, the Isla Blanca ferry service is now operating.
On Thursday, the company Marítima Isla Mujeres said they are again able to offer the ferry service, according to Riviera Maya News. The ferry was taken out of circulation this year after officials found inconsistencies during an inspection.
After the failed inspection, ferry “Sergio Gracia Aguilar” was taken out of service, however, authorities say that after improvements, the service has been resumed in both directions including cars and passengers.
