Southwest Airlines and its wholly owned subsidiary AirTran Airways have announced more options for Baltimore customers looking to get to Florida. AirTran Airways will add as many as four daily nonstop flights between Baltimore/Washington and Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood beginning Sept. 6, 2012, through the end of its published schedule on Feb. 13, 2013. The new flights will add to AirTran's existing three daily roundtrip flights between the markets.
With the September flight schedule, Southwest Airlines will operate three daily nonstop flights between Baltimore/Washington and Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood for a combined total of up to ten daily roundtrip BWI-FLL flights between the carriers.
To celebrate the additional flights, AirTran is offering fares as low as $59 one-way (including government taxes and fees) on all flights between BWI and FLL. Fares are available for travel between Sept. 6, 2012, and Dec. 18, 2012. Blackout dates apply.
Travelers may purchase these sale fares at www.airtran.com, from their local travel agent, or via AirTran Airways' reservations system at 1-800-AIR-TRAN. For reservations in Spanish, call 1-877-581-9842.
Bob Jordan, Southwest Airlines executive vice president & chief commercial officer and AirTran Airways president, said, "We've seen a strong demand for this route and we are proud to be offering more options to flyers in the region."
Southwest Airlines began service to Baltimore/Washington on Sept. 15, 1993, with ten daily nonstop departures to two cites. Since then, Southwest has grown its operation to more than 170 daily nonstop departures to nearly 50 cities.
