AirlineCheckins.com is a new, complimentary service from Lufthansa Innovation Hub that allows travelers to automatically check-in to any airline worldwide that offers online check-in. This service includes more than 100 airlines along with Lufthansa, from both large global carriers to small local airlines.
AirlineCheckins.com was officially available in beta in 2016. Over the course of the past year, the site serviced approximately 5,000 travelers from 60 countries and processed over 10,000 check-in requests. The new version, no longer in beta form, remains free of charge and now includes new, advanced features.
Travelers register once on the website, able to store their travel documentation, personal information and seating preferences in their profile. They are then automatically checked in for all flights which are booked using their personal AirlineCheckins.com email address. The site covers flights for Lufthansa Group airlines which include Lufthansa, Swiss International Air Lines and Austrian Airlines, while also offering this feature for all airlines that allow online check-in. Travelers then automatically receive their boarding pass by email or SMS text.
AirlineCheckins.com also allows users to specify travel companions in their profile if they are traveling with multiple passengers, to take part in a frequent flyer program and to view upcoming and past flights to show users a summary of their personal travel activities.
Holger Schneider, managing director of Lufthansa Innovation Hub, said in a written release that AirlineChecksin.com will especially held those who travel often, such as business travelers or families with multiple passengers. The goal of the site, he said, is to “eliminate the hurdle” and to alleviate the stress of having to check in to a flight while also packing, wrapping up work, or planning an itinerary.
